History

Rockwood Water Sewer and Gas has served the City of Rockwood and portions of Roane County for over 50 years. The Utility was created as an enterprise fund operating under the City of Rockwood. A Board was created to manage and oversee the utility with five Board members appointed by Rockwood City Council. The original water plant was constructed in 1958. The first sewer plant was constructed in the 1950’s. Natural Gas has been purchased and distributed in the service area since 1957. As of 2015, the Utility serves approximately 3815 water customers, 1850 sewer customers and 2744 gas customers. Our mission is to provide safe, economical utility services to all our customers. Our employees are committed to public service, which puts our customers first at all times. This is achieved by sound management, fiscal responsibility, careful planning and highly trained employees.
